Summary
Error Msg: "Not enough memory available to complete this operation" when you try to record a .wav file by using Sound Recorder
Symptom
On a system or notebook that has Windows XP and more than 2GB of system ram, you receive the following error message when you try to record using Windows Sound Recorder:
"Not enough memory available to complete this operation"
Other user provided sound recording programs work fine.
Cause
This problem occurs because of a design limitation in Sound Recorder and not because of any problem with the underlying multimedia. This problem does not occur on systems with 2GB or less memory installed.
Status
Microsoft is aware of the issue.
Resolution
Microsoft suggests that another recording application be used instead of Sound Recorder.
